Review: My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)
by CineRik on Jul.28, 2009, under Review, SBCC Reviews
Without the 3D gimmick, this slasher is unbearably bad. Plus, something has gone horribly wrong in the transfer leaving the characters looking as though they have been green-screened into every scene. Plus the worst CGI I’ve seen since Leverage. I don’t have to dig much to find faults here.
Review: Repo! The Genetic Opera
by CineRik on Jul.27, 2009, under Review, SBCC Reviews
Gorgeous visuals couldn’t resurrect my interest in this musical. Extraneous characters, a lack of catchy tunes and a story which takes the least direct route to its climax possible. My autopsy can be found here.
Review: In Search of the Great Beast 666
by CineRik on Jul.21, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews
Plagued by bad acting and a camp Crowley, this documentary adds nothing to the tale of the ‘wickedest man in the world’. Summon forth my opinions here.
Review: The Haunting in Connecticut (Unrated)
by CineRik on Jul.21, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review
An entirely unremarkable haunting tale. A couple of good performances, and some nice atmosphere, but it quickly runs out of steam. Things go bump in the night here.
Review: Leverage – The First Season
by CineRik on Jul.21, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review
Just a cabbage-launcher away from being a complete rip-off of the A-Team, but with a strangely dark element. Also features some of the worst CGI I’ve ever seen. The plan completely fails to come together here.
Hollywood je t’aime (2009)
by CineRik on Jul.09, 2009, under Review, SBCC Reviews

Reviewed at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival
A difficult choice, but Hollywood je t’aime stands as my favorite film of the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival. Matching whimsey with real emotion, this story of a depressed Frenchman’s journey to find himself amongst the drag-queens and transvestites of Hollywood won me over. Pull on your best party frock and come celebrate with me here.
Review: Ruby – A Journey to Lose the First 100lbs.
by CineRik on Jul.07, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review
Six episodes culled from a reality TV show about a woman trying to drop her weight from nearly 500lbs before it kills her. She is charming but, unless you are looking for inspiration to lose weight yourself, I don’t see the appeal in putting someone else’s suffering under the microscope. I guarantee a zero-calorie review here.
Review: Five Fingers (2006)
by CineRik on Jul.06, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review
An art-house sensibility with Dick Cheney’s politics. This film chickens out from raising questions and ends up making a strong case for torture. Good acting though… I may never play piano again if anyone involved reads this.
Review: Nursery University (2009)
by CineRik on Jul.06, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review

A fun look at the nightmare of getting your two-year-old into the ‘right’ pre-school in New York City. It’s not just playing in the sand-box anymore! I break out my finger-paints here.
Review: Moon Machines (2008)
by CineRik on Jul.04, 2009, under Real Movie News Reviews, Review

A facinating documentary detailing the machines that took men to the moon, and the people who were responsible for their design and construction. See how this DVD reaches for the stars here.
